Workplace Hazards

On May 8th, 2017 an employee was exiting a packaging area into a main hall, after exiting he reached with his left hand to turn the hallway lights off using the switch next to the door jam.  While pressing the switch with his left index finger his pinking finger was extended and got caught between the door and frame.  The employee had to reach around with his right hand to open the door to remove his finger.  The employee went home then decided to go to their personal healthcare provider.  The employee received treatment beyond first aid.

Factors to consider at your site or project include, but are not limited to, the following:

·       Be aware of pinch points.

·       Report all events immediately to your supervisor.

·       Ensure you follow your company emergency response procedures.
