An employee was hurrying while walking across a room to pick an object off the floor when they fell injuring their back and neck.
Factors to consider in preventing a similar incident at your site include the following:
- Remember to slow down when walking to avoid a fast pace. Always keep eyes on the walking path. When stepping or walking it is critical to keep your eyes on your path and upcoming surroundings. Walking or moving before looking can lead to slips, trips, falls, and collisions.
- Develop and document safe work practices for each task, considering what might seem to be routine and the non-routine tasks. Make sure you share these practices with your employees and train on these as well.
Consider this example as you complete today’s work activities.
Think about the hazards associated with your particular work, and the steps that can be taken to increase safety on your job.
