On November 21, 2016 a laboratory employee was cleaning glassware in the sink with water and the 10 Liter bottle being cleaned shattered when it hit the side of sink. The employee received several locations. The on-site emergency services were called. The injuries were cleaned the employee was transported to an offsite medical site for further medical attention.
Factors to consider at your site or project include, but are not limited to, the following:
Inspect all glassware for cracks or chips prior to use.
Investigate the use of break resistant glassware.
Ensure you know and follow your company emergency response procedures.
Utilize in house cleaning services to rinse 10 Liter bottles.
Make sure you are clear of any objects when moving bottles around.
