Hand Injury

Employee was pushing her cart out of the cooler when she noticed that the doorstop was stuck open causing the door not to shut.  She states that she was flipping the doorstop downward when the stop flew up and caught her on the back of the right hand by the wrist.  She was standing on the outside of the door while holding door with her left hand as it happened.

The doorstop in question had been sticking in the past and there was a work order placed to have it fixed the previous day.  The door continued to stick after the repair, another work order to have the door replaced has been submitted.

Factors to consider at your site or on your project include, but are not limited to, the following:

1.    Verify that maintenance/work order work is completed correctly prior to utilizing them.

2.    Improve communications of hazards to all work personnel.
