Ergonomic Hazards when Stocking Chemicals

An employee strained a knee while stocking chemicals into flammable cabinets.  The employee used the knee to prop open the flammable cabinet when stocking chemicals onto the lower shelves.

1.   Ensure that planning of the work takes place to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to eliminate or control the hazards.


2.   Ensure that there appropriate room to maneuver when lifting and moving materials.

3. Consider posture, exertion, and repetition when evaluating tasks for ergonomic hazards.


4.   Ensure employees are properly trained for material handling.
