Trash Left Behind Creates A Sticky Situation

The employee stated that she was in a women's restroom to check the toilet paper levels in the stalls.  In one of the stalls, she noticed a piece of plastic sitting on the toilet paper dispenser.  She grabbed the plastic, not realizing it was actually the tip of a syringe (the needle and needle hub), and her finger was stuck with the needle.  The employee took the object to her supervisor and reported that she had been stuck with the needle.

Factors to consider at your site and/or project include, but not limited to the following:

1.    Retrain the employees on the importance of identifying what they are grabbing when picking up trash in or near restrooms.
