DESCRIPTION OF THE ALERT : 

Genie Recall, Secondary Aerial Lift Cylinder

This Safety Alert by Genie is calling for immediate removal from service, and inspection of the secondary lift cylinder installed on machines listed: Z-80: Z8008-2062 to Z8008-2113. Affected cylinders have the date code starting with D8A052 to D8A061. They are advising that machines must be removed from service immediately and may only be put back into service when this safety the notice No. 120016 is completed and received by Genie Service Dept.

Apparently the Secondary Aerial Lift Cylinder models may pose
a cylinder malfunction threat. If the cylinder malfunctions then lift can actually fall

ACTION REQUIRED:

 

Please address this concern as soon as possible AND REMOVE THIS EQUIPMENT FOR USE UNTIL ADVOSORY INFORMATION IS COMPLETE as this poses a serious risk hazard to anyone utilizing these platforms.

 

Issue:

 

Genie has received a report of a failed secondary lift cylinder on one of the machines listed above. Genie has determined that all affected cylinders must be replaced.  If the affected cylinder fails, the platform can fall.

Action Required:

This safety notice requires the immediate removal from service, and inspection of the secondary lift cylinder installed on the machines listed above. Affected cylinders have the date code starting with D8A052 to D8A061. Machines may only be put back into service after this safety notice is completed.

 

1. Locate and remove all of the machines listed above from service.

2. With the boom in the stowed position and engine off, open the engine cover.

3. Locate the secondary lift cylinder counterbalance manifold.

Note: This is visible through the side plate between the battery and function pump.

4. Locate and record the date code stamped on the manifold.
